Pastor Michée still remembers the phone call. Then came the picture. "Tears came to my eyes," he says. "I recognized my father by his shoes."
Michée's father, Filibert, was a devoted believer in a peaceful village church of 600 people in Burkina Faso. One day, more than 100 extremists entered the village. Thirty-one people were killed, Filibert among them.
The grief nearly broke Michée's faith. "It felt like God had let us down," he says. "Prayer was no longer meaningful to me."
Then, trauma care from Open Doors partners, made possible by believers like you, gave Michée a way through the grief. "My relationship with God was revived," he says. "I re-found hope." Today, Michée provides that same trauma care to 16 others in his village, including several widows.
Michée has a message for the church around the world: "Listen! Thousands of Christians are being killed across Africa. We are talking about it. Will you?"
